Anyone who rides knows that getting on a motorcycle and feeling the sun and wind against your face for a few hours can be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to stress relief. For others, a Sunday (or any day) drive to nowhere in particular can settle the mind and make lemonade out of lemons.
But Governor Pritzker’s Executive Orders issued under his disaster proclamations say you can’t do either.
Specifically, Executive Orders 2020-10 and 2020-32 both prohibit non-essential travel, each making the following prohibition:
All travel, including, but not limited to, travel by automobile, motorcycle, scooter, bicycle, train, plane, or public transit, except Essential Travel and Essential Activities as defined herein, is prohibited.
Unfortunately, stress relief is not considered Essential Travel or an Essential Activity under the governor’s orders.
Socially distanced or not, riding or driving for the fun of it is not allowed.
